Making money in an online home business can be both fun and lucrative. One thing to consider before getting started is how you are going to market the business. I want to share some methods which are free as well as some which cost very little.
You will be able to find several places online where you can place free classified ads. If you Google "free online classified ads" you'll be surprised how many you'll find. A word of caution, follow the guidelines of each site or you'll lose the opportunity to continue with them.
Personal contact marketing is another good method to use. I don't mean to contact all of your family and friends, just listen to people as you goo through your day. When you hear someone complaining about their job or hours or commute, tell them that you might be able to help them out. Give them your card and tell them to give you a call. No sales pitch, just tell them to call you. If they show interest and call you then tell them what you're doing. Don't chase them, let them come to you.
You can also place business cards on car doors. Place them on the driver's side door above the door handle. Use a simple message which will catch someone's eye in a hurry, for example, "Work from Home, Have Free Time, call 1 (800) 234 5678". You'll want to go to shopping malls or very large office complexes and distribute a large number at one time.
You can use plastic corrugated signs which are put on metal "H" stands, these are sometimes referred to as bandit signs, I'm sure you've seen them during political campaigns. Use a simple message "Make Money in a Home Business, 1 234 567 8901". You want to choose a busy intersection where a lot of people will see the sign. You can have these made for as little as $2.00 each if you buy 50 or more at one time.
Newspapers offer a low cost method to advertise your business. For a small classified as in the Sunday run of a newspaper you can reach a lot of people. You'll want to stay with newspapers which have circulations between 50,000 and 200,000 as these will offer the best pricing.
Magazines can also be highly effective although the cost might be out of reach when you're just starting up. Magazines also have a time lag of 30 to 45 days between the time you place the order and publication. The great thing about magazines is their shelf life, you might get a call months after your ad runs.
These are some ideas to get you started in your home based business opportunity. There are many more which I will be covering in future articles. I hope these are helpful, and you have much success in your endeavor, whatever you choose.
